Getting There: Useful Tips
Car Recommended
While buses run from Ljubljana to coastal towns like Izola, having a car gives you far more flexibility - especially if you want to explore the salt pans, smaller beaches, or the Karst region.
Do keep in mind: parking is almost always paid and can get pricey in summer.
Traffic Warnings
Summer traffic can be heavy, particularly because this route also leads to Croatia.
If you can, try to avoid Fridays, Sunday evenings and national holidays. On the wrong day or at the wrong hour, the “one-hour drive” can easily stretch to three hours or more.
