Route overview

Itinerary
- 07:00 – Depart Ljubljana and enjoy a scenic ~1h50 drive via Most na Soči, arriving just before opening time at Tolminska korita; enter at 09:00 and spend around 2 hours exploring the dramatic gorges.
- 11:00–11:20 – Continue to Kobarid for a relaxed stop; take time for a coffee or light snack, then enjoy a short hike to the beautiful Slap Kozjak and pause at the historic Napoleon Bridge.
- 13:00–13:40 – Drive towards Slap Boka and stop at the viewpoint for a quick but impressive look at one of Slovenia’s most powerful waterfalls.
- 14:00–15:00 – Arrive in Bovec and choose between a peaceful walk through Velika korita Soče or a visit to the charming Slap Virje - both offer stunning alpine scenery, so pick one to keep the pace relaxed.
- 15:15–16:45 – Wind down with a late lunch or early dinner in Bovec, and don’t miss trying the local specialty čompe.
- ~17:00 – Begin the scenic return drive to Ljubljana (approx. 2.5 hours), arriving back in the evening around 19:30–20:00.

06:00 – Depart from Ljubljana and drive via Most na Soči toward Bovec, continuing into Lepena Valley (approx. 2–2.5h drive).

11:30 – 13:30 – Lunch by the lake; enjoy a peaceful picnic (carry all trash back down) or eat at the nearby mountain hut (bring cash and check opening times in advance).

Optional (if time/energy allows) – Continue ~45 minutes further to Kasarna za Lepočami for atmospheric World War I ruins. They are not marked on any maps, but easily accessibla as they are by the trail to Bogatinsko sedlo, so just ask at the hut or use the Komoot link.

14:00 – Begin the hike back down to Lepena Valley (approx. 2–2.5h descent).

16:30 – 17:00 – Drive to Velika korita Soče and take a short walk along the striking limestone gorges.

- This is a long and physically demanding day, so an early start is essential.
